What I’ve Heard - Messages From the Doors in Division 3 Parkland County:
As we approach election day on October 20th, I’d like to highlight some things I’ve heard as I’ve engaged with the residents of Division 3 these last many months:
Residents continue to see issues with theft and vandalism in the division and would like council to prioritize these incidents in our policing strategy.
Residents would like more flexibility in the development of their own land, particularly additional residences for aging parents, family or other needs.
Seniors and those on fixed incomes worry that as their homes increase in value, that their property tax burden will become too great, forcing them to sell. They ask if there’s an opportunity to address this issue in their policy, while keeping property tax increases low for all residents.
Fiberoptic connectivity remains a challenge for many in our division. Continued expansion of these services must be a priority.
Roadways, turning lanes and high danger areas for traffic remain a concern in various locations in Division 3. While not directly in Division 3 (though just adjacent to it), the RR15 reroute and RR 20 intersection project is top of mind for western residents in our division, while turning lanes on select sections of Campsite Road and Hwy 779 are a priority for those in the eastern part of the division.
Many love to live and/or work in Parkland County and are positive about our future.
These are just some of the issues I’ve noted in my conversations these last months. Your voices, along with the other priorities I’ve listed on my main platform issues, will encompass my platform if I’m elected as your councilor on October 20th.
